Showa era

昭和時代 (Japanese) Shōwa era (1926-1989)

The Shōwa era is the period between the Taishō era (1912-1926) and the Heisei era (1989-2019). This era encompasses the years from the "erotic-grotesque nonsense" movement, the first generation of post-war SM fans, the first live SM performances, and the SM VHS era into the dawn of the internet in Japan.
