Edogawa (江戸川) family name, Ranpo (乱歩) first name (1894-1965)

Ranpo Edogawa is a famous mystery writer whose later works trended toward the bizarre. Several of Edogawa's stories included charcters or events related to sadomasochism and alternative sexuality.

Biography

1894: Born in Nabari on October 21st.

1930: Begins serial stories "Magician" in Kodan Club and "Vampire" in Hochi News. Both stories are illustrated by Sentarō Iwata.

1952: Publishes "About 'Thoughts on Homosexuality in Our Country'" in the June issue of Human Exploration Magazine.

Interesting Points

Edogawa's name is a transliteration of "Edgar Allen Poe."
