1931: Oniroku Dan was born on April 16th to proprietors of the "Kinjoukan" movie house in Yonbanchou Dobashi in Hikone City, Shiga prefecture[1]. His father, Nobuyuki Kuroiwa, at one time aimed to be a screenwriter. His mother, Yukie Katori<ref name="chat">Having divorced, she studied under Sanjuugo Naoki in 1927. Naoki was involved in movies at this time, and Katori played the starring role in "Nekkyuu Hatobu" (directed by Masao Hattori).,<ref>, was a former movie actress, and this was her second marriage.
